Key word is correspondingly. It should certainly not be year for year. 2 years of that increase has already been taken away by raising the retirement age to 67.
My original question stands, my hunch is much of the problem is increasing benefits like disability, survivors, children benefits rather than life expectancy. I think it's another example of Congress giving away stuff that isn't paid for.
