Right, but all of the things I mention are good, fiscally
responsible things to do. Aligning a retirement program with life expectancy for younger people WELL in advance of them needing the benefit makes a lot of sense and is fiscally responsible. And I would think raising the cap on high earners would be a lefties dream. So if they do those two things to shore up social security in the long run, would you complain about the GOP "cutting social security", or would you at least recognize that for the first time in like, well forever, they did something that actually made sense.
