No, the process has become inherently politically corrupt and needs to be
reigned in. Violating rules of the Senate and flouting the nomination process while unjustly accusing the nominee and attacking his character are reprehensible tactics worthy of punitive measures. It was not always “appropriate” to hold a nominee’s political views as a more important criteria than their ability to adjudicate the law as evidenced by Ginsburg’s 98-0 and Scalia’s 96-3 votes. Then, the meaning of advise and consent by the Senate operated under different standards.
Kavanaugh has every right to be considered without regard to some obscure, baseless, vile accusation. The attempted borking of this qualified, decent candidate will hopefully backfire on those who choreographed this most recent desperate political stunt.
