That's good that you'd be consistent. I would be too.
There really is no harm in letting the FBI investigate They investigate it, they come up with nothing (overwhelming likelihood), and then the dem's attempts to demonize are cut off at the knees. Not ended, but cut off at the knees. Although I have little sympathy for the dems - the timing stinks to high heaven, and in a way I think Ford is one of their victims. She is fodder in this fight.
What I disagree with is the notion that the repubs should have voted Garland down. I agree that at least giving an up or down vote would have been far better. But if you think they should have voted him down, then I think you support the idea that "advise and consent" is dead. The pres no longer has this prerogative unless his party controls the Senate. If Merrick was a qualified guy with no background check problems, then a repub senate should confirm him, as a dem senate should do for a similarly qualified, untainted repub nominee.
But those days seem to be behind us, and unfilled SCOTUS seats for years on end might well become the norm. [Post edited by hoolstoptheheels at 09/19/2018 11:14AM]
